Day 1 Nairobi – Nakuru-Naivasha

It is 160 Kilometres from Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park, however, about 60

Kilometres out the tour arrives at the Mau escarpment. There is a ‘look out’ from where one can view this natural wonder the-Great Rift Valley. Here the road descends into the Great Rift Valley. On the descent one is surprised to see just off the road, a small Italian style chapel. It was built by the Italian prisoners of war who constructed this fine road. It should be mentioned here that this road from Nairobi to Nakuru was the first overland road to be surfaced with tarmac in Kenya. This park was famous only as a bird sanctuary especially the lesser and greater flamingos. However, now it is home to the white rhino and Rothschild giraffe, besides the herbivores like buck and antelope. Leopard can also be seen in this park. The vegetation is of the drier type. The flat-topped acacia and the candelabra cactus are a feature of the landscape.

Overnight at a lodge in Nakuru or a camp in Lake Naivasha

Meals: Lunch and Dinner

Day 2 Nakuru/Naivasha – Masai  Mara

If you overnight at Naivasha which is at an altitude of 6,233 feet, and in the centre of a farming area you may see the myriad of bird life at the Lake. After breakfast, drive across the plains to arrive at the Masai Mara National Reserve in time for lunch.

An afternoon drive will doubtless offer a sight of the black-manned lion for which the Mara is famous, sheltering from the heat. This park has a large concentration of wildlife big and small. The Masai Mara is at the bottom of the Rift Valley. There is a definite change in vegetation. The trees on the slopes resemble gnarled olive trees, later their place is taken by flat-topped acacia.

Overnight in a lodge or camp in the Reserve.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3 Masai Mara

A full day of game viewing and exploring of this Kenya’s finest reserve or alternatively a morning game drive followed by an afternoon swim in the cool water of the hotel swimming pool. You may witness the lion making a kill or a leopard enjoying the meal he had dragged up the tree with him. The vegetation is mostly savanna type with forested areas near the rivers and of course the dwarf acacias to cater for the giraffes. More than 60 species of animals are found here and countless bird species, this includes the Masai ostrich and the secretary bird. This is where the great migration of the wildebeest takes place

Overnight in a lodge or camp in the Reserve.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4 Masai Mara – Nairobi
