Day 1. Nairobi
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, meet and transfer to your Nairobi Hotel Overnight at a Nairobi Hotel Meals: None Day 2. Nairobi â Nakuru After breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru. It is 160 Kilometres from Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park, however, about 60 Kilometres out the tour arrives at the Mau escarpment. There is a âlook outâ from where one can view this natural wonder the-Great Rift Valley. Here the road descends into the Great Rift Valley. On the descent one is surprised to see just off the road, a small Italian style chapel. It was built by the Italian prisoners of war who constructed this fine road. It should be mentioned here that this road from Nairobi to Nakuru was the first overland road to be surfaced with tarmac in Kenya. This park was famous only as a bird sanctuary especially the lesser and greater flamingos. However, now it is home to the white rhino and Rothschild giraffe, besides the herbivores like buck and antelope. Leopard can also be seen in this park. The vegetation is of the drier type. The flat-topped acacia and the candelabra cactus are a feature of the landscape. Overnight at a lodge in Nakuru Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Day 3. Nakuru â Masai Mara After breakfast, drive across the plains to arrive at the Masai Mara National Reserve in time for lunch. An afternoon drive will doubtless offer a sight of the black-manned lion for which the Mara is famous, sheltering from the heat. This park has a large concentration of wildlife big and small. The Masai Mara is at the bottom of the Rift Valley. There is a definite change in vegetation. The trees on the slopes resemble gnarled olive trees, later their place is taken by flat-topped acacia. Masai Mara A full day of game viewing and exploring of this Kenyaâs finest reserve or alternatively a morning game drive followed by an afternoon swim in the cool water of the hotel swimming pool. You may witness the lion making a kill or a leopard enjoying the meal he had dragged up the tree with him. The vegetation is mostly savanna type with forested areas near the rivers and of course the dwarf acacias to cater for the giraffes. More than 60 species of animals are found here and countless bird species, this includes the Masai ostrich and the secretary bird. This is where the great migration of the wildebeest takes place Overnight in a lodge or camp in the Reserve. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Day 5. Masai Mara â Naivasha After breakfast drive to Naivasha which is arrived in tuime for lunch. Lake Naivasha has a surface of about 44 square miles. In 1929 it was found to have a depth of 34 feet. Crescent Island is part of the rim of submerged volcano whose crater forms the deepest part of the lake. In the driest years, the level of the lake dropped so that the whole rim of Crescent Island was exposed. In the distant past Lake Naivasha stood about 420 feet higher than it does now. Its outlet was at that time through the Njorowa Gorge (Hells Gate). Lake Naivasha is a bird watchers paradise. Overnight in a lodge in Naivasha Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Day 6. Naivasha â Amboseli National Park After breakfast, leave Nairobi in the morning and proceed to Amboseli. Drive across the Athi Plains where the Maasai once roamed fearlessly mingling with the game animals, zebra, giraffe, antelope and lion, grazing their livestock. Amboseli National Park After breakfast, a whole dayâs game viewing in the area of After lunch, a game drive, returning at sunset for dinner and overnight stay. After dinner take a seat overlooking the waterhole and saltlick to watch the procession of animals come to drink. Overnight at a lodge or a camp in Amboseli Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Day 8. Amboseli â Lake Manyara An early morning drive is bound to reveal either lion at a kill or enjoying a kill, with hyena and marabou stork waiting for their turn to feast. Manyara â Ngorongoro After breakfast tour Lake Manyara National Park which is famous for itâs tree climbing lions and vast flocks of flamingoes. After lunch depart for Ngorongoro arriving in the early evening. Overnight at a lodge in Ngorongoro Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Day 10. Ngorongoro After breakfast at the lodge proceed on a half-day crater tour with picnic lunch. In the crater, which is considered the âEighth wonder of the worldâ you can see a spectacular concentration of wildlife including the big five. The crater has a variety of habitats including grassland, forest and swamp. The lake on the crater floor is home to flamingoes and many other species of birds. Return to the lodge in the early evening. Overnight at a lodge or a camp in Ngorongoro Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Day 11. Ngorongoro â Tarangire National Park. After breakfast drive to Tarangire. This park is famous for its dense wildlife population, which is most spectacular between June and December. Afternoon game drive will be conducted.
